History of Christ Community Church

Sunday May 25th 2008 was an extraordinarily beautiful spring day in Mount Airy, North Carolina. At 10 AM that morning a group of just over 100 people gathered together in the back parking lot of the Creekside Cinemas to worship God in spirit and truth. Songs of praise were sung, prayers were prayed, the Word was preached and Christ Community Church was born. The people who gathered were a diverse group, but they shared a common commitment to God and His Word.

The next Sunday God opened the door for us to begin meeting regularly at Millennium Charter Academy where we continue to meet. They have been incredibly helpful and kind to us and have been used of God in a wonderful way to provide us with excellent facilities for our Sunday and Wednesday meetings. We have experienced incredible joy and blessing in this endeavor as the Lord has richly blessed us. We have celebrated our first baptism, two babies dedicated, our first wedding, the beginning of the regular taking of the Lord’s Supper, the organization of a Sunday School, The WMU, and men’s group, affiliating with the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina and the Southern Baptist Convention by beginning our cooperative program giving and our giving to our Missions Offerings.

In February of 2009 we adopted three guiding documents: Our Statement of Faith, our Constitution, and our Membership Covenant. We officially voted Dr. David J. Brady to be our pastor and the first elder in our church. We recognized several other men who are currently being trained to share in the responsibilities of that office with him.

In May of 2009 we celebrated our first anniversary and are pressing forward in building on the foundation of Christ and His Word. On August 23rd 2009 we held our first member’s meeting and officially voted in our charter membership and considered many important issues for the life and future of our congregation.

We are excited by all that God has done in us and through us but we recognize that we have only just begun. We have been greatly blessed but we know beyond the shadow of a doubt that everything we do is by His grace and for His glory,…for from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.
